The Getty Cadillac

January 2021 — Saxo Bank of Art

A Cadillac that once belonged to oil billionaire Jean Paul Getty is gilded in 24-carat gold, set with 100,000 crystals — and then cut apart. From its pieces come 99 numbered sculptures of steel and crude oil, offered through Saxo Bank of Art on the 22nd and the 29th of January.

“I want to give the earth back something cultural that J. P. Getty took from it more than fifty years ago.”

Het Belang van Limburg announces a painting worth one million euros on its way to Herk-de-Stad, and describes the man behind it as composer, concept creator, watchmaker and painter — the maker of a Lamborghini that dives and a Porsche that flies.
